Colbie Caillat is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. She gained widespread popularity thanks to her MySpace profile which contained demo songs and videos of her playing acoustic and blue-eyed soul music. Colbie Caillat later became a number-one unsigned singer in her chosen genre for four months.
Not long after, Colbie Caillat released her debut single entitled “Bubbly” which peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on the Pop 100 charts. Colbie Caillat later released two more singles, “Realize,” and “The Little Things.”
Colbie Caillat gained further popularity when she sang alongside Jason Mraz in song “Lucky,” which was included on his album “We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things.” Colbie Caillat later recorded a cover version of the song “Kiss the Girl” from “The Little Mermaid,” which was included in Disney’s Disney Mania vol. 6 CD. Colbie Caillat also toured with the band Goo Goo Dolls and Lifehouse, and served as a supporting act for singer-songwriter John Mayer on his 2008 Summer Tour.
In August of 2008, Colbie Caillat released the song “Somethin’ Special” for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. She then released a music video for the song “The Little Things,” followed by an appearance on the video of Schiller’s single, “You.” Colbie Caillat also worked on the soundtrack of the movie “Imagine That,” where she covered George Harrison’s hit song “Here Comes the Sun.” Colbie Caillat later worked as a featured artist for Colombian singer Juanes’ song “Hoy Me Voy” from the album “La Vida Es un Ratico en Vivo.”
In October 2008, Colbie Caillat sang the song “Midnight Bottle” for the soundtrack of “Tres Irmas,” a Brazilian soap opera. Colbie Caillat also worked alongside Taylor Swift in the song “Breathe.” She also released a French version of her song “The Little Things.” In 2009, Colbie Caillat released her second album entitled “Breakthrough.” Colbie Caillat’s new album features guitarist David Becker, and from it spawned the single “Fallin’ For You.” The album was available for pre-order in iTunes in August 4, 2009, containing the bonus track “Hold Your Head High.”
Colbie Caillat is currently working on two Christmas songs for the upcoming 2009 holiday season. The songs are “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Merry Christmas, Baby.” She and fellow songwriter Stacy Blue are currently working on other Christmas songs as well.
Colbie Caillat is a featured guest star at the Veronica comics serial. Colbie Caillat is also good friends with other songwriters such as Kara DioGuardi and Jason Reeves.
